ActInSpace NZ 2018 is event is organised by CSST in partnership with NZSA, MBIE and ChriscthurchNZ with support from French Embassy.

The Centre for Space Science Technology is a regional research institute based in Alexandra. The organisation was established in May 2017 and is one of the first regional research institutes to get off the ground in New Zealand. CSST are building an agile company that can handle the entire Earth observation data life-cycle, from system design, data capture, data management, dissemination, through to training and support. CSST is a limited liability company owned by a charitable trust. The trust’s mandate is to benefit regional industries across New Zealand and to educate those industries about the benefits of using Earth observation data in their operations and R&D activities.

The New Zealand Space Agency is the lead government agency for commercial and civil use of space. The Agency sits within the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), and its functions include space policy, regulation and industry development in New Zealand.  MBIE is committed to fostering a vibrant and competitive domestic space ecosystem capable of developing new and innovative technologies and contributing to creating a more sustainable and diversified economy that will benefit all New Zealanders.

ChristchurchNZ is the new economic development and city profile agency charged with igniting bold ambition by creating excitement, connecting changemakers, stimulating economic activity and attracting visitors for Õtautahi Christchurch.

We provide targeted initiatives to support innovation and business growth while promoting our city nationally and internationally. The French Embassy in New Zealand promotes scientific collaborations and exchanges between France and New Zealand. ActInSpace is an international innovation contest, initiated by the French Space Agency (CNES) and supported by the European Space Agency (ESA) and ESA Business Incubation Centres network (ESA BIC). The 2018 event will be the third iteration of ActInSpace, and the first year that New Zealand will participate. The French Embassy is proud to be part of the organising committee and looks forward to working with the winning team from New Zealand, in preparation for the international finale in Toulouse, France.
